Pratt Lake 12/26/13

Catch and Release Walleye East Shore 17 FOW

We made our first ice fishing trip of the season to Pratt Lake this afternoon. The ice conditions were very good with 6 to 7 inches, but deep snow and slush made pulling the sled no fun.  We setup at 2pm on the East side of the lake and started looking for fish with the camera.  We found blue gills in 15 to 17 FOW, but could not get them to bite.   The tip up action started at 4pm with a few small pike and a bass.  At 5pm we hooked our first walleye on a slick jig tipped with a wax worm and then lost one at the hole 10 minute later.   Overall we found fish but the bite was slow.

Pratt Lake Fishing Trip 12/30/12

Mark and I fished the East side of Pratt Lake Sunday afternoon.  The ice conditions around our fishing area were 3 to 3.5 inches at best.  Had lots of action but didn't catch any walleyes on this trip.  We had lots of fun catching small pike and bass until dark.  My MarCum 820 camera stopped working on this trip killing our scouting plan.  I've used the MarCum 820 for three seasons now and had tons of problems with it, so now that it's dead I'll replace it with a different brand before my next trip.

Good Luck....

Pratt Lake Fishing Report 1/27/12

Pratt Lake Gills

The original Friday fishing plan was to head over to Lake Cadillac, but work issues kept us close to home.  We made the best of our situation and drove over to Pratt Lake to try our luck. Mark and I started looking for fish on the South East side of the lake at noon and found lots of bass and sunfish.  We worked our way around the lake and found bass and pan fish in 10 to 18 FOW in most areas we checked out.  We took advantage of the gill fishing and caught a limit while we searched for walleyes.   Overall we caught lots of average sized gills and had a busy time with our tip ups unhooking bass and pike.  No walleyes hooked on this trip, but we did see two nice ones on the fish camera.  The ice conditions were good with seven to eight inches everywhere we fished.
Lake 13 Report:  Friend of ours have limited out on gills and big perch on the last four trips out to Lake 13.
Good Luck...

Pratt Lake Fishing Report 1/9/11

Chachi Checking Holes
We took the all of the kids over to Pratt Lake this afternoon to try our luck with the walleyes.  The weather was great and the kids were pumped to be out on their first fishing trip of the year.  We setup on the North East side of the lake in 8 FOW along the breakline.  After drilling holes along the contour lines, Chachi and I did some camera work looking for fish.  On our third hole we saw a two bass and quite a few nice blue gills, we marked the hole and move on.  A few holes later in 8 FOW we found a nice walleye, so we decided to setup and fish.  The  fishing action started out fast with four flags in the first 15 minutes, two misses, one bass, and one 23-inch pike.  In the shanty Chachi hooked a small pike early on a jigging spoon and saw a total of five walleye swim in checkout our baits and move on.  We tried lots of presentations, small minnows, wax worms, spoons, but no luck.  The fish were in the area, but just like Friday we couldn't buy a bite.

Good Luck...
